Bellas wellness habits that changed her life
As busy women, it is a challenge to balance work, life, family, school, and everything in between while also staying mentally intact. As a naturally anxious “go go go” person, I have had to self-reflect and find the habits that limit my anxiety, not fuel it. The overall common theme I learned was making myself feel like I am living a healthy-lifestyle, even if it is not perfect. This all ties back to creating routines, incorporating daily movement and self care to build emotional clarity and confidence in how you live your life. Because once you achieve a routine and habits that work for you to make you feel good, the rest of life somehow feels a little better.
The habits I am about to share with you do not occur at the same time every single day (or even all happen in a day which is ok) because everyday looks different. I map out my day, and see what times work to incorporate these habits to keep me grounded amongst the chaos.
Going on a walk
Simple, but effective. Stepping outside for even a quick 30 minute walk where I get to put in my airpods and tune out always makes me feel so much more grounded. It allows me to think in a relaxed state while also feeling productive since I am moving my body. Even if I cannot make it outside for a fully unplugged walk, I also appreciate walking on the treadmill while I get work done. Checking tasks off of my to do list while getting steps in makes me feel like I am killing 2 birds with one stone!
Listening to a Podcast Tailored to How I am feeling
When I am in an anxious or in a down mood, listening to a mental health podcast always makes me feel validated. There are so many podcasts out there, meaning you are guaranteed to find an episode that will help however you are currently feeling. Not only is it validating to hear another person speak aloud how you are feeling or listening to them share a similar experience, there is advice that comes along with it and forces you to think in a new light.
Some of my favorite recommendations are Mel Robbins, Date Yourself Instead and Leo Skepi!
Journaling
In all transparency I have tried multiple times to get into the habit of journaling everyday, but it never sticks for me!! However, when I am feeling a million different thoughts at once, writing it all down without a doubt never fails to make me feel more at ease after. Journaling may seem intimidating admitting your true inner thoughts on a physical piece of paper, but remind yourself that your honest feelings need to go somewhere (pro tip you can always choose to rip the page apart and throw it away after).
Working out
Movement movement movement!! This is medicine!! Once you get into the habit of working out daily, you cannot go back. Working out not only is physically beneficial, but mental as well. Physical activity increases endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin while also lowering stress and anxiety symptoms. Working out is a time to unplug and take care of your body and mind.
Reading
Having a book that I’m actively reading always makes me feel better because it gives me a dedicated hobby that encourages me to unplug. It’s one of the few activities that allows me to step away from screens and be fully present. Reading helps me put my phone down, slow my mind, and spend time on something that feels both relaxing and enriching. I also love the sense of accomplishment that comes with working through a book. It feels productive without being stressful- a way to unwind while still learning, reflecting, or being entertained. Finishing a book gives me that satisfying “check-the-box” feeling, making it a simple habit that benefits both my mental well-being and my daily routine!
Putting on an outfit that makes me feel confident and comfortable
Feeling good about myself sets the tone for my entire day. When I feel confident, I naturally have more motivation, energy, and drive to show up as my best self. That confidence creates a positive ripple effect, influencing everything from my mindset to my productivity. As simple as it may sound, it often starts with what I wear. I want to feel comfortable, but I also want to feel put together. Most days, that means a workout outfit, but I love finding ways to elevate it, whether that’s with a great pair of sneakers, a stylish workout shrug, or a bright matching set. When I feel good in my clothes, I carry myself differently.
What I’ve come to realize, though, is that confidence starts even before the outfit itself. It begins with what I’m wearing underneath. Since discovering JIV ATHLETICS, I’ve learned that true comfort can make a bigger difference than I ever expected. When you’re not distracted by discomfort, constant adjustments, or visible lines, you can focus on your day with confidence. For me, feeling good starts from the foundation, and that foundation is JIV.
Eating whole, healthy foods
Learning how to cook and eat healthier has truly changed my life. I’ve realized that healthy eating isn’t boring, it’s one of the best ways to fuel my body and feel my best from the inside out! That doesn’t mean I never enjoy a fun snack or a meal out, but prioritizing whole, nourishing foods throughout the week helps me feel energized, balanced, and like I’m genuinely taking care of myself.
Sitting in the sauna
Lastly, I love spending time in the sauna! It gives me a chance to unplug, read my book, and slow down for a little while. There’s something so relaxing about sitting in the heat and letting go of the stress of the day! Leaving my phone outside and getting lost in a good book feels like a small reward, one that always leaves me feeling refreshed and recharged.
The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all formula for feeling your best! The key is finding small habits and routines that help you feel grounded, confident, and supported through the ups and downs of everyday life, and the list above is what works for me! Start with one habit, stay consistent, and remember that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be perfect!
